The legal dispute concerned orbital slot rights for an L-band satellite that Avanti had leased to the Indonesian government. Avanti announced in June that it had obtained a final award against the government of Indonesia in the sum of $20.075 million, payable by July 31. Avanti is the first mover in high throughput satellite data communications in EMEA. It has rights to orbital slots and Ka-band spectrum in perpetuity that covers an end market of over 1.7bn people. CopaSAT named authorized distributor for Avanti HYLAS solutions
August 27, 2018Tampa, FL – August 27, 2018 – CopaSAT LLC, a leader in highly reliable and secure global communication technology, has been named by Avanti as an authorized distributor to the DoD for the HYLAS Constellation of high capacity Ka bandwidth covering multiple regions.
The HYLAS satellite fleet leverages partners spanning 118 countries, providing a network with worldwide internet service to almost 2 billion people. HYLAS uses smaller, focused spot beams to provide higher speeds, as well as maintain efficiency and available capacity. Along with 64 fixed beams, HYLAS 4 features 4 steerable beams that provide highly flexible capacity throughout Africa, Latin America and Europe.
Avanti is the first mover in high throughput satellite data communications in EMEA. It has rights to orbital slots and Ka-band spectrum in perpetuity that covers an end market of over 1.7bn people. The Group has invested $1.2bn in a network that incorporates satellites, ground stations, datacenters and a fiber ring. Launched in April 2018, HYLAS 4 doubles our capacity over EMEA. Using the latest Ka-band technology, it has 64 fixed beams serving Africa and Europe, as well as four independent steerable beams able to be steered anywhere visible on the Earth’s disk from 33.5˚W.
The strategic partnership will directly support US military and Governmental organizations in the provision of flexible, agile and portable satellite communications across EMEA. The collaboration between Avanti and CopaSAT will enable military and government users to maximize the benefits of High Throughput Satellite broadband and take full advantage of high capacity data traffic, including full motion video and other C4ISR applications.

Avanti Communications has confirmed that, following its successful launch on April 5th, the HYLAS 4 Ka-band satellite has reached its geostationary orbital position on schedule.
In a statement, the company said: “The spacecraft is performing as expected and is in good health. The solar arrays, antenna pallets and electric propulsion thrusters have been successfully deployed. The in-orbit payload testing will begin shortly with service commencing as scheduled at the end of July 2018.”
