Missouri has a good offering of what can be loosely defined as riverboat casinos. You'll find most of the major casino games offered here, although you won't find much variation outof these standard games.

While Missouri was at the forefront of legalizing riverboat gambling, they have done little since that time to expand the legality of gambling - including opening to online casinos.

Still, if riverboat casinos are your thing, Missouri has a good selection scattered across the state and in its major cities.

Online Casinos in Missouri

Online gambling - either for casinos or sports betting - is currently illegal throughout Missouri.

Right now, the only legal online casino-like playing in Missouri is social. Social online casinos can be played from your phone or desktop and provide you with all the same games you'dfind at any other casino site, like online slots and table games.

The only difference is that you don't have much of a chance to win any real money playing in a social casino. Your only opportunity would be to enter a sweepstake and hit a jackpot that couldpotentially have cash.

Most likely, Missouri will wait and see how fast other states legalize online casinos before attempting to themselves.

Land-based Casinos in Missouri

Missouri has around a dozen land-based casinos and riverboat casinos. You get a real variety in Missouri - from those open 24 hours to smaller operations.

There are no Branson, Missouri casinos, nor are there casinos in Joplin, Missouri. The closest casino to those cities would actually be in Oklahoma, at Indigo Sky Casino, about 120 miles fromBranson.

Payback Percentages in Missouri

NOTE: If you happen to win a jackpot of $1,200 or more in Missouri, the casino will withhold 4% of your winnings for the Missouri Department of Revenue.

If you want to try and get that money refunded, you will be required to file a state income tax return and, depending on the details of your return, you may get some of the money returned toyou.

The $1,200 threshold would also apply to any cash prizes won in casino drawings or tournaments.

Types of Land-based Casinos in Missouri

All of the casinos in Missouri are all located on riverboats and there are no Native American casinos in Missouri. In November 1992 Missouri voters approved a statewide referendum to allowriverboat gambling. That made Missouri the fifth state to approve this form of gambling.

Since the riverboats are not required to cruise, almost all casinos in Missouri are built on a barge which gives them the appearance of a land-based building, rather than a riverboat.

When the Missouri casinos first began operating they were required to cruise and they all conducted two-hour gaming sessions with a $500 loss-limit on each session.

In early 2000 the law was changed to allow continuous boarding and cruising was no longer required for Missouri casinos. In November 2008 the state’s $500 loss limit provision was eliminated asthe result of a statewide referendum.

I have recently taken an interest in craps. I finally hit a brick wall playing Ultimate Texas Hold'em. It seemed like for a month, I could never lose. But, then all good things must come to an end. Anyways, I started to study up on craps and played online to make sure that I wouldn't make to much of an ass of myself stepping up to an actual craps table.
I finally got the nerve up to try craps on the way to Harrah's North Kansas City. I got there on a weekday evening and there were two craps tables open, one was completely empty and the other was packed full. That should have been my first clue, but I went over to the empty table and dropped 200. I went to put my pass line bet down and realized that the table layout was different. I asked why it was and they said it was a new Crapless Craps table. I said ok and proceeded to ask what differences it made. I played one pass line bet and left. I went and played games I was much more familiar with. I looked up Crapless Craps when I got home and I am glad that I didn't waste my money playing.
Today, I made my normal mid-day trip to the other casino that I play at in town, Argosy Riverside. Again, I got up the nerve to play craps on the way. Again I walked in and there were two tables open, one was empty and the other was packed. I walked over to the empty table to check out why and quickly figured it out. It was a Crapless Craps table also. I walked around and played some slots and went back later. The regular craps table had thinned out, but the table limit was $10, which is too rich for me, especially when trying a new game out.
I haven't been to Isle of Capri or Ameristar KC recently, but I'm disappointed that my two favorite places have decided to opt for a game that modifies a classic and gives a HUGE edge to the house. The Isle sucks and is full of homeless/dirt poor people so I doubt I would ever play there, even if they have $3 craps early in the morning.

First off, Harrah's Crapless Table isn't new at all... they've had that since I lived there in 2008. It doesn't get much action except on weekends, but I've seen them close the other tables and leave that one open. In fact, I think Argosy and Ameristar both have had Crapless for a long time. It's popular in St Louis too.
Second, I don't like Ameristar myself. However, IoC has taken great steps to try be a bit more upscale. From a table games perspective, they have the most double deck tables at affordable levels, and they have cleaned up a bit... that's relative, because it's still the homeless hangout, but I don't think they police the place enough. I've never had any problems there, though I've never felt comfortable there. I was a Harrahs/Argosy guy myself.

Joe,
I play craps at all these places, except Isle. Can give you some pointers if you'd like sometime. Just PM me if you want. I find the Argosy craps crews the best in town... IMO...

When i asked at harrahs, the dealer made it clear that it was new. Maybe the table was physically new and not the game itself. I have no idea if the game itself existed there before since I never payed attention. That's just the way they phrased it to me.

I was at Harrah's in July of last year. When I was there, I noticed a BUNCH of new dealers and that was before Hollywood opened up. It would not surprise me if most of the crew is new, so it's probably new to them. But the crapless table has been across from the High Limit gaming area ever since I started playing there.

Do they realize that simply paying Natural 7's @ 6-to-5 would reduce the Pass/Come HE to a much more appealing 2.0%?

Crapless Craps is not new to the KC area. I lived in the area back in 2008-2009 and both Harrahs and Ameristar had crapless. It was actually a fairly packed table when I'd go to Ameristar.
